After an action-packed year of touring the world, Spray Paint return with their second LP of 2015, Dopers. It was recorded last August in the middle of 87 shows in 66 cities and in 12 different countries by Chris Woodhouse (The Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Mayyors). Easily the most hi fi they have ever been recorded, but without losing the scum. Moments of Jesus Lizard, Glenn Branca, Sister-era Sonic Youth come to mind at different points. Dopers is set for release October 23rd on Monofonus Press and you can cheek out the first smasher that debuted on Noisey.
Spray Paint on Dopers: “It was very hot and wildfires were burning all the while on the drive from Portland to Sacramento. The studio we recorded at was surrounded by a harsh scene of bleakness, sadness, and homelessness. Step outside for a cigarette and junkies basically swarm to beg coins, smokes, and things I won’t mention. We ate at a 24 hour casino diner for pretty much every meal, and half of the songs are about things that were happening there in the wee hours. We were on a very tight schedule and did what we had to in lieu of sleep”.

What a fantastic find. Throws all of my love for Wire, Minutemen, The Waitresses, and every other herky-jerky art-punk band, into a blender and comes out better than a kale smoothie.
